Services for Seniors

The Age-Friendly Manitoba Initiative is a comprehensive, multifaceted approach in addressing the needs of a growing seniors' population. The concept of "age-friendly" encourages active aging by optimizing opportunities for health, participation and security in order to enhance quality of life as people age.

This club holds activities such as whist nights, guest speakers, ladies lunch etc.

The Gordon Howard Centre is a membership based, multi-purpose centre which sets examples of healthy living styles for older adults.  They provide recreational activities, learning opportunities and informational workshops.

The Selkirk & District Seniors Resource Council provides services to seniors which include:  Driver/Escort, E.R.I.K., Friendly Connections, Handi-Helper, Lifeline and Meals on Wheels.

Eastern Interlake Handi-Van Inc.
The Eastern Interlake Handi-Van provides transit services to the elderly and people with disabilities, with regular trips to Gimli.  The R.M. of St. Andrews has an agreement with them to provide service to our northern residents, in the Matlock and Winnipeg Beach areas, one day a week, on Wednesdays only.

Selkirk Mobility provides transportation services to those needing to go to medical appointments, jobs, shopping excursions and other various outings/appointments.  Trips must be pre-booked and will be delivered in a "best fit", as available, priority basis.
