Baseball Diamond at Airport

January 2025 Update

Construction of the new baseball diamond and parking lot in St. Andrews is wrapping up this year, thanks to a $227,000 Building Sustainable Communities grant from the Province of Manitoba and equal contributions from both the Municipality and St. Andrews Airport. The project, located on the west side of Airport Drive, just north of South Gate Road as you enter the Airport, aims to enhance our recreational opportunities for local teams and community as a whole.

Several milestones for the project were met last year including; the parking lot, full-size diamond, backstop, fencing and various trees planted, with grass seeding scheduled for this upcoming spring.

The new parking lot, which spans just over 55,000 square feet, can comfortably fit 100 vehicles, providing ample space for players, families, and visitors. Its location offers convenient access to the baseball diamond, ensuring that spectators can easily enjoy games and events. The parking lot not only enhances the baseball diamond but will also alleviate parking shortages identified within the airport.

Primary users of the field will include teams from Winnipeg North Minor, Selkirk High School, and other local user groups, ensuring that the facility will serve as a hub for sports and community activities for years to come.

With the project nearing completion, the Municipality will keep the community updated on the final touches as we get ready to welcome everyone to the new diamond later this year!
