Local Government - By-Law Enforcement
Respecting the rights of your neighbours and ensuring that our property values are maintained is an important aspect of community living. At times however, boundaries may be crossed and By-Law Enforcement Officers are given the task of investigating complaints received from the public about alleged violations of various municipal by-laws. The goal of by-law enforcement is not to penalize the citizens of the municipality or visitors, but rather achieve compliance through education and the provision of information in order to preserve the quality of life to which each citizen is entitled.
The R.M. of St. Andrews currently has a contract with Prairie By-Law Enforcement for the services of By-Law Enforcement. The By-Law Enforcement Officer is responsible for enforcing all current and active by-laws of the municipality and to make recommendations to Council regarding any required changes, amendments or new legislation.
The duties of the By-Law Enforcement Officer are many and varied, however, the main focus of the position is to ensure that the Municipality's legislation is enforced in a fair and consistent manner with all residents and/or visitors.
